Jesus' Last Days on Earth
Over the next two weeks, we will be sharing with you the Easter story. Each day with have a key verse from the bible, a written extract by a year 6 pupil and a closing prayer.
This Jesus, who has been taken away from you up to Heaven, will come in the same way as you have seen him go.
For forty days, Jesus appeared to his friends at different times. He looked and seemed different, but there was no doubt that he was alive. He ate meals with the disciples and talked with them as he had before he was crucified. He helped the disciples to understand a lot more about the scriptures than they had before.
On the fortieth day after he had risen in the garden, he walked with them to the Mount of Olives and turned to them. "You must tell everyone all about what has happened," he said. "Go and preach the Gospel everywhere, and make your own disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Once people understand why I suffered and died, then rose again, they will live better lives."
Jesus held up his hands to bless them and spoke once more. "Remember that I will be with you always, just as I always told you." Then he rose up into the sky and disappeared behind a cloud. The disciples returned to Jerusalem and went to the temple every day to thank God for Jesus.
It’s wonderful that now you are in heaven.
Thank you for coming to Earth to give your life for us.
