Jesus' Last Days on Earth
Over the next two weeks, we will be sharing with you the Easter story. Each day with have a key verse from the bible, a written extract by a year 6 pupil and a closing prayer.
Jesus sent Peter and John off, saying, “Go prepare the Passover for us so we can eat it together.”
Jesus and His disciples met in the upper room of a house, in secret. They had gathered to share the Passover meal. As Jesus, the light of the world, sat at the table, his disciples we silent. They looked at Him anxiously, all worried. Nevertheless, he started to tear a piece of bread. He said in a clear but scared voice, “This is the bread of life. Whoever eats this will have eternal life. His body was represented by the bread. Next, he passed a glass of wine saying, “You make a new covenant with God. The wine represented His blood which would be shed when he died. Finally, he gave one final commandment: love one another as I loved you.
